Connecting Education and Industry Through a Study Visit
This week, Senior Material Europe welcomed students from the Industrial Technology Programme at Strängnäs Municipality’s Komvux education centre for a study visit ahead of potential workplace-based learning placements (APL) planned for autumn 2026. The visit began with an introduction to Senior Material Europe and our role in the battery value chain. The students then joined guided tours of Factory 1 and Factory 2, gaining insight into our operations and production processes. By opening our doors and sharing our knowledge, we aim to strengthen the connection between education and industry. Providing students with first-hand experience of modern manufacturing helps develop practical skills, deepen their understanding of industrial processes and strengthen the link between education and the skills needed in industry.

Environmental permitting process update
Senior Material (Europe) AB is preparing an application to amend its environmental permit for the planned production process in Eskilstuna. Following feedback from the County Administrative Board and other consultation participants, the consultation documentation will be supplemented. The additional documentation will include further information on the quantities to be handled at the facility and waste management. It will also provide a clearer description of the supporting studies that will form part of the environmental impact assessment, including studies related to risk, firewater management and emissions to air. The additional information will help define and clarify the scope of the environmental impact assessment. The updated consultation documentation will be made available to consultation participants, who will have the opportunity to review it and submit comments. The amended process remains subject to environmental assessment and permitting. We will continue to provide updates as confirmed information becomes available. Senior Material Europe at Upcell Alliance Event
Last week, Senior Material Europe took part in the Upcell Alliance Event Västerås 2026 , bringing together companies, researchers and other stakeholders from across the battery value chain to discuss the future of the Nordic battery industry. The event offered an opportunity to exchange perspectives on how technology, innovation and collaboration can contribute to a strong and competitive battery ecosystem in Europe. As part of the programme, Jiayan Cong, VP Technology & Projects at Senior Material Europe , participated in the panel discussion “Connecting the Value Chain – Shaping the Nordic Battery Future” . The discussion explored the importance of connecting expertise and capabilities across the value chain, from materials and manufacturing to technology and research. For Senior Material Europe, collaboration across the value chain is an important part of building a strong and sustainable European battery industry. Engaging with industry partners, research institutions and other stakeholders enables us to share knowledge, explore new opportunities and contribute to the continued development of battery technologies in Europe. We are pleased to have been part of the conversation in Västerås and look forward to continued collaboration across the Nordic battery ecosystem.

Former Senior Materials Intern Visits Our Global Headquarters in Shenzhen
From Eskilstuna to Shenzhen – a connection that continues to grow. Filip Frödenlund, who previously completed a two-month internship at Senior Materials Europe in Eskilstuna, recently visited Senior Materials’ global headquarters in Shenzhen, China. Filip is currently studying in Shenzhen as an exchange student, giving him a unique perspective on both Sweden and China – and on the connection between our European operations and our global organization. During the visit, Filip met with colleagues at Senior Materials and discussed topics including young people’s expectations of international employers, working life in Sweden, corporate responsibility and the development of Senior Materials in Eskilstuna. His journey from an internship in Eskilstuna to studies in Shenzhen is a great example of how international experiences can create lasting relationships and new perspectives. At Senior Materials, we value these connections and the exchange of ideas between people, cultures and markets. We were very happy to welcome Filip to Shenzhen and look forward to staying in touch.

Rotary visits Senior Material Europe in Eskilstuna
Yesterday, Senior Material Europe had the pleasure of welcoming Rotary to our site in Eskilstuna for a company visit. During the visit, we shared an overview of Senior Material Europe, our production and our role in the European battery value chain. We also talked about the company’s significant investments in Sweden since 2021 and our continued commitment to developing our business in Sweden and Europe. The visit included a tour of the factory, followed by time for questions, dialogue and an exchange of experiences. Opening up our operations and creating a greater understanding of the industry and technological development taking place in Europe is an important part of our work. Mr. Liang Chen and Delegation Visit Senior Europe
On August 26, Mr. Liang Chen, Co-Founder and former CEO of Senior Material Group, together with his delegation, visited Senior Europe for discussions on the project’s investment and construction, operational progress, local talent development and future growth. During the visit, the delegation gained an overview of the project’s current construction and operational status. The discussions covered operational performance, future development plans, as well as potential investment priorities and areas of development. Based on the progress to date, both sides exchanged views on the priorities and directions for the next phase of the project. The development of a strong local team was also an important topic during the visit. The two sides discussed how to further strengthen local talent development, enhance organisational and management capabilities, and build a local team capable of supporting the project’s long-term development in Europe. The discussions also touched on corporate development and compliance requirements, with a focus on corporate governance, sound operations, and risk management. These areas will provide an important foundation for the company’s continued development and future growth in Europe.
